Patient safety is a major priority at Blue Wolf Transformations.
All surgical procedures carry risks. For carefully selected patients, an office-based awake approach may allow avoidance of general anesthesia and hospital-based surgery. During consultation, Dr. Khawaja will discuss whether an awake procedure is appropriate for your specific situation.
Procedures are performed by Dr. Osmaan Abbas Khawaja using:
- Local anesthesia
- Oral relaxation medication
- Careful patient screening
- Sterile procedural techniques
- Pre-procedure evaluation and medical review
Unlike many traditional tummy tuck procedures performed under general anesthesia in a hospital or surgery center, awake abdominal skin excision procedures at Blue Wolf Transformations are designed for appropriately selected patients seeking a more limited, office-based approach.
According to organizations such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), all surgical procedures carry risks and require individualized evaluation.
Potential risks of panniculectomy, tummy tuck, or skin excision procedures may include:
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Fluid accumulation (seroma)
- Delayed healing
- Scarring
- Skin irregularities
- Unsatisfactory cosmetic outcome
- Need for revision procedures
Patients who smoke, have uncontrolled medical conditions, significant obesity, poor circulation, or healing disorders may have increased risks and may not be candidates for awake procedures.
Not every patient is a candidate for an awake approach. During consultation, Dr. Khawaja will determine whether awake skin excision is appropriate based on anatomy, goals, and medical history.
